Obesity Is Harmful for You: Why Avoid It

Obesity is an unhealthy lifestyle. It occurs when body mass index is more than 30kg/m2. Body mass index is a measure of fat based on weight and height and applicable to all male and female.

Obese people are at higher risk as compared to those with less weight. The increased risk of harmful diseases, such as diabetes, stroke, and blood pressure is serious and extended to following health issues:

  • Mortality
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • High level of LDL cholesterol
  • Gallbladder issues
  • Stroke
  • Sleeping disorders
  • Coronary heart disorders
  • Breathing problems

Sometimes, mental depression exceeds to put you in mental illness, hence aggravating low quality of life. There is minimal body functioning, and reduced physical activity occurs due to body pain.

Why is Obesity a Health Risk?

When you call someone obese that means its weight is more than 20% than the average healthy weight should be. It is not necessary that every fat person has all of above problems but the risk increase if a family history has some of those conditions.

Weight matters, if your stomach is ‘pear’ shape, meaning that the extra weight you have is mostly around the buttocks and hips. Obesity results when these seven conditions are linked:

Stroke or Heart Disorder:

Due to extra weight, you may have the high level of blood pressure and high cholesterol. These conditions together works for stroke or heart attack.

You can reduce the chance of developing them by reducing your weight. If you lose 5-10% weight, it is more likely that you have undoubtedly reduced the chance of heart disorders.

Cancer: 

Breast, colon, kidney, endometrium, and esophagus cancers are due to obesity. In some researches, ovaries, gallbladder and pancreas cancer is also related to the obesity. Obese people are likely to develop the risk of several types of cancer too. According to a thought, in the UK, one out of every 20 cancers is due to overweight.

Type 2 Diabetes:

Obese people also show symptoms of diabetes. Most commonly in the world, overweight people have type 2 diabetes. However, by losing weight, you can cut this risk to a lower level. Only losing weight will not work but adequate sleep, properly balanced diet and exercise are crucial factors to adopt.

In case of type 2 diabetes, go for weight loss workouts and physical activity, it will also lower high blood pressure level. Active people need less diabetes medication.

Gallbladder Issues:

In obesity, other worst problem is gallstones. Its severe form affects gallbladder. If you’re well aware of this issue and started losing weight at a high level, avoid it, because a high level of losing weight also produces gallstones.  Such gallbladder is infected and inflamed.

The gallstones comprise of cholesterol that means in case of high level of cholesterol is likely to produce gallbladder disease.

Gout:

Do you know gout? It is a bone disease that primarily affects joints. This is due to high level of uric acid in the blood, and its crystals accumulate in joints cause gout.

Usually, obese people have this disorder. Higher your weight is, more likely you can get gout. High uric acid is a leading cause of cardiac events and heart diseases. It is also a metabolic problem. Don’t try to lose weight to get rid of it, if your family has a history of gout. Consult your doctor first because rapid changes in weight may aggravate the situation.

Osteoarthritis:

The prevalent bone disease is osteoarthritis. This join condition occurs in hip, knee, and back. With the extra weight, more pressure exerts on affected joints that damage cartilage tissue. Cartilage is a cushioning tissue that protects joints.

When you lose weight, it eases knees, and joint stress and lower back find relief so osteoarthritis symptoms likely to lower down. Overloading on joints is harmful in the long run, and people find it hard to do daily activities.

All of above obesity-related issues coin for extra weight. Musculoskeletal system affects adversely with extra weight. This is a worldwide problem but with little care, monitoring daily intake of food and fats you can manage lowering weight. Obesity is a host of all disorders and accumulated fat over different body parts affects negatively overall health.
