4 Ancient Japanese Secrets for Staying Slim and Healthy!

When it comes to staying healthy and fit, the universal rules seem to be following a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and exercising on a regular basis. Nevertheless, every culture has some unique routines and tips on how to achieve this.

For example, there are 4 main rules in the Japanese culture that help this nation stay healthy and fit.

Here’s the list of 4 Japanese rules that help them stay healthy and fit!

1. Eat Like a Sumo Wrestler, and You Will Look Like a Sumo Wrestler

Sumo wrestlers start with their intense training immediately after waking up. They don’t have a breakfast, but a big lunch in the afternoon. Right after their lunch, sumo wrestlers go to bed. Usually, they have 2 enormous meals, twice a day.

The point is, no matter how much you exercise, eat a lot and you will gain weight! Junk food, or large portions of food you consume on a daily basis will easily prevail over your workout effects. The conclusion is follow a balanced diet, good sleep patterns, and exercise regularly.

2. Warmth is Life

Food is practically the energy we need to survive. Vegetables and fruits which grow in the winter are higher in calories, thus keeping the body warm during the cold days. On the other hand, foods growing in the summer have cooling effect on the body, adjusting it to the high temperatures during the hot, summer days.

Although eating raw vegetables and fruits is crucial when following a healthy diet, the human body needs warmer foods every once in awhile. So, make sure you follow a nutritious diet that provides all the nutrients needed for the optimal function of the body.

3. Avoid Drinking Liquids During Your Meal

Japanese believe that drinking liquids such as water during their meals, has negative effects on their digestion. Their logic behind this is that liquid cools the body and eliminates its warmth. Some scientists explain that water neutralizes the stomach acid, forcing the body to use more energy to complete the digestion process. Instead of drinking water, you can enter liquid in your body through soups, or fruits and vegetables.

4. A Hot Bath Extends Your Lifespan

Besides improving the blood circulation, reducing the levels of stress, and relaxing the body, Japanese state that taking hot bath on a regular basis cleanses the skin, improves digestion, and prolongs life. The ideal temperature for a hot bath is believed to be 100 to 104 °F.

These 4 ideas might sound unusual at first, as we tend to believe that calories are the main factor of weight loss or gain. But, if you think about the fact that Japanese are the nation with the longest lifespan according to the World Health Organization, you will realize they are doing it right.
