How to Make Your Own Yogurt at Home!

It is a well-known fact that yogurt is excellent for our health.

It provides numerous benefits that can improve our overall well being, one of them being the good bacteria our body needs.

But did you know that besides these benefits, yogurt offers a lot more others?

Some of them are:

  • Flatter abs
  • Prevention of osteoporosis, thanks to vitamin D and calcium present in abundance
  • Ceasing hypertension, or high blood pressure
  • Smoother skin
  • Enhanced immune system
  • Protection from colds

You can always go to the supermarket and buy one, but why not making your own yogurt? You can easily make it at home, and we encourage you to try this recipe today. Not only that it has a better taste, but the homemade yogurt doesn’t contain preservatives, it’s cheaper, and plus you will help the environment since you won’t need materials for packaging. The ingredients you need are probably in your kitchen right now, and once you learn how to make the homemade yogurt, you won’t think of buying one ever again.

Ingredients for Homemade Yogurt:

  • A quart of raw, organic milk
  • 2 tbsp. of no sugar yogurt, or organic one (used as a starter)

Materials for Homemade Yogurt:

  • Saucepan
  • Quart-sized mason jar
  • Wire whisk
  • Thermometer
  • Electric heating pad
  • Bath towel

Gather the needed ingredients and materials, and start with the preparation.

Preparation of Homemade Yogurt:

Add the milk in a heated saucepan, and let it boil slightly. Be careful not to scorch it. When the milk is hot enough, transfer it into the Mason jar. Allow it to cool down and using a thermometer measure its temperature. Once it gets to 110 degrees Fahrenheit, add the yogurt and stir well. Seal the jar and wrap it with a heating pad and then with a towel. Let it stay like this with a heating pad turned on for 10 hours. Then, remove the heating pad, and let the jar stay in the fridge for a whole night.

Your homemade yogurt is now ready to be consumed. For a different flavor, you can add some fruits or spices. Avoid cow’s milk when preparing homemade yogurt because the best one is that prepared from goat milk.
