Orange and Grapes for Diabetes and Other Diseases

Adding fruits in your diet is one of the best thing you can do for your health. They contain numerous nutrients and abundance of vitamins and minerals.

Oranges and grapes are one of the most delicious and popular fruits on the Planet, but also, they provide an array of health benefits. A lot of scientific studies have proved that the substances found in these fruits are beneficial to our health.

Specifically, they have proved that trans-resveratrol (tRES) found in grapes and hesperetin (HESP) in oranges provide great health benefits, especially in fighting some diseases.

Benefits of This Fruit Combination

A study has proved that consuming this fruit combo provides the following health benefits:

  • Reduces the levels of blood sugars
  • Improves insulin production, action, and use
  • Improves the health of arteries

Researchers from the University of Warwick have found out that the content of one pill for improving the condition of diabetics and heart disease sufferers contains both, trans-resveratrol and hesperetin – substances contained in grapes and oranges. You can notice that eating these two fruits leads to a healthy heart and diabetes-free life by just seeing the above listed benefits provided by this fruit combination.

Pf. Paul Thornalley is the author of the research who suggests that this discovery can greatly affect the today’s treatment of these two diseases. Besides preventing and treating diabetes and heart disease, this powerful fruit combo can as well prevent obesity.

How Oranges and Grapes Do It

Trans-resveratrol and hesperetin can raise the amount of glyoxalase 1 or Glo1. This is a protein which can neutralize the detrimental compound derived from sugar called methylglyoxal (MG). A person who has plenty of methylglyoxal in the body, at the same time following an energy-boosting diet, can develop insulin resistance, and thus type 2 diabetes.

Moreover, increased amounts of methylglyoxal can also damage the blood vessels and impair the use of cholesterol in the body, which can affects the cardiovascular system.

Since oranges and grapes can help reduce the amount of methylglyoxal, they can improve the person’s health, especially if they are obese or overweight people. Also, these fruits are good for diabetics and people with higher risk of heart diseases.

Nevertheless, the author of the study points out the significance of other factors along the consumption of this fruit combo in order to increase its efficiency. They include regular physical activity, and healthy diet.
