ST. JOHN’S WORT AGAINST FUNGI AND DEPRESSION

St. John’s wort is harvested from mid-June to August.

The healing effect of St. John’s wort is attributed to the active ingredient hypericin, which is responsible for the anti-inflammatory, soothing and regenerative effect of the plant St. John’s Wort oil is considered to be almost as marvelous in soothing or even successfully treating a variety of skin problems such as acne, scars, sunburn, and even mild depression and gynecological disorders.

It helps against depression, insomnia, and relieves symptoms of menopause.

St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a well known medicinal plant in folk medicine, and is often used for diseases like high fever, liver and bile duct. However, it has been studied a lot due to its effect on depression. Clinical trials confirmed the influence of St. John’s wort on depressed mood and positive effect on medium depression. Its anti-depressive effect and performance can be noticed after two weeks of use.

Furthermore, it reduces the feeling of exhaustion, fatigue and lethargy. It helps with unfounded fears and sleep disorders. It is successfully used in children and young people who have difficulty sleeping and concentrating. It is recommended for women in menopause. It can be used as a tea or tincture to treat depression.

How to make a tincture against depression:

  • Pour 100 ml of 70% spirit on 20 g of freshly dried flowers.
  • Leave it for at least two weeks and strain.
  • Take 20 to 30 drops in half a glass of water two to three times a day.
  • The tincture should last for four to six weeks.

Tea against depression:

  • Put one to two teaspoons of dried St. John’s wort in hot water for ten minutes.
  • Drink one cup of this tea every morning and evening.
  • Drink this tea for four to six weeks.
  • Pregnant women should not drink this tea.
