The skin is the largest organ in terms of area. The skin area in an adult reaches 1.5-1.6 m², weight 4-6%, and together with the subcutaneous tissue (“hypoderm”) 16-17% of the total body weight. The thickness of human skin, depending on the area of the body: dermis – 0.5-5 mm, epidermis – 35 microns – 1.5 mm.

The human skin is our first line of defense against the environment. It has many functions, from thermoregulation to protection against infections. Every day, our skin is exposed to various influences such as pollution, exposure to ultraviolet rays, temperature changes and more, which makes skin care an important process.

Perfect skin is not just a mirror of health, but its absence can be a problem. For example, dry skin can increase the risk of infection and other infections. Some people suffer from skin pigmentation, which can lower their self-esteem and confidence levels. The appearance of the skin can also be associated with conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, which can lead to itching, pain, and irritation.

Skin care includes a range of activities that help maintain healthy skin. When doing this, it is important to take into account the characteristics of the skin, such as the type of skin and the problems that it faces. For example, for people with oily skin, it is important to use cleansers to control excellent sebum production, and for people with dry skin, moisturizers for better hydration.

Skin care also includes proper nutrition and hydration of the body, since the health of the skin is directly related to the overall health of the body. For example, consuming plenty of vitamin C promotes healthy skin, as it supports its natural collagen.

Keeping the skin in good condition helps protect against many possible diseases and increase self-confidence. Therefore, paying due attention and time will not be in vain.
