Up until a few years ago, I thought I was making a healthy choice by drinking chocolate milk. I figured “sure, there’s a bit of chocolate in it but the dairy must be doing me some good.” Health.
Wrong.
I’ve written an article or two before about why commercial milk sold in the supermarkets isn’t good for us, but what makes chocolate milk even worse is the sugar content!
Did you know that a small carton or serving of chocolate milk contains 26g of sugar? To paint an accurate picture of just how much sugar that is, it’s the same as half a bag of Skittles. Or slightly more than the 22g of sugar found in a Kit Kat bar.
So what’s a person to do when the chocolate milk craving strikes? Or if your child wants to take chocolate milk to school?
Here’s an extremely easy recipe to try out at home! You can also play around with the recipe by adjusting quantity, using your nut milk of choice, or adding in a pinch of flavour using ground cinnamon or vanilla.
