QUINCE: THE BEST REMEDY IN AUTUMN

Quince is a real vitamin bomb and for a long time is known in the traditional folk medicine. Its primary use is to relieve cough and to soothe stomach pain.

This fruit originated from southwest Asia and all the parts of the fruit are healing: fruit, leaves, seeds, especially juice and syrup from the fruit. Quince is a real vitamin bomb with a minimal amount of calories and fat, but rich in protein, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, and contains much tannin substances and vitamins pectin. It has the largest amount of vitamin C, but also large amounts of carotenoids, vitamins B1 and B2 and niacin. It is rich in copper, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, sulfur. Quince seeds contain up to 15 percent oil and high amounts of the important ingredients amygdalin, or vitamin B17, which has anticancer properties.

The seeds are rich in fat, tannin, pectin, sugars and malic acid.

Thanks to the tannin and the mucus from the fruit which act very beneficial for the proper work of intestines and prevents infectious diseases.

Cooked quince juice with equal ratio level of sugar is good for cough and asthma.

Roasted or boiled quince is recommended for inflammation of the stomach and intestinal mucosa, as well for treating anemia.
